Below are some of the most frequently asked questions in regards to DJ, Officiants and our other services.
Q: How far will you travel to DJ an event?
A: Source 1 has a standard travel radius of 60 miles from out main office in Kenosha, WI. Anywhere within this radius is completely free of charge for us to offer services. (View map here)
Additionally we do offer an extended coverage area at the rate of $1.00 per mile. Plus accommodations for the DJ and or their assistant for any distance over 200 miles. (View extended map here)
Q: Are you insured?
A: Yes, we carry $1,000,000 of liability insurance. (View Insurance Certificate here)
Q: What separates your company from other DJ companies?
A: Source 1 is a true DJ Company, not just a one or two man crew who DJ on weekends and work day-jobs all week long. Also we are not one of the big franchise companies that send out 20-25 DJs every weekend. We have 4 DJs who can perform nearly any event, yet each has a specialty they excel at so we can provide a more personalized service.
Q: Do you have back-up equipment/personnel?
A: Yes! We keep an entire extra system on stand-by just in case of an emergency along with a back-up DJ who can cover an event in an emergency.
Q: Should we tip our DJ?
A: Tipping is purely at your discretion. If you feel the DJ did a great job at your event, feel free to show your appreciation. While our DJs love getting tips, there is something far more valuable to us than money. What our DJs really find most valuable is a 5 star review on any of the wedding websites such as WeddingWire or TheKnot, as well as other sites such as Google, Facebook & Yelp. A 5 star review is worth so much more as it helps us gain new clients based on your great experience with our company.
Q: How do you choose what music to play?
A: All of our DJs are well trained in “reading the room” and we choose our music based upon four criteria, the songs that you request at your pre-event music meeting, songs that your guests request, songs that we know usually get the dance floor going and lastly we keep the music dancable! We absolutely avoid all songs that you put on your “Do Not Play” list, if you tell us not to play a certain song or songs, be assured, they won’t be played. All of our music is clean, radio edit versions and we Do Not play hard-core rap, or screeching heavy metal. Our job is to make sure everyone has a great time dancing and some music just doesn’t do that. While we always try to play as much of your music as possible, we do filter those music choices with consideration of children, older guests and to maintain our good reputation.
Q: Can we meet with you before we book you?
A: ABSOLUTELY!! In fact, we really prefer to meet with all our clients before signing a contract so that we can answer any questions and we can get a feel for them and them for us!
Q: Do you do photo booths?
A: No, we do not provide photo booths. Source 1 provides a variety of services that include DJ’s, MC’s, ceremony music, licensed wedding Officiants/Ministers, up-lighting, custom monograms and projector/laptop set-ups for Tacboard. Primarily services related to music & sound.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept.
A: For retainers we accept cash, personal checks, cashier’s checks, money orders and credit cards (however credit cards do incur the fee that we are charged by the processing company). For the balance we accept cash, personal checks, cashier’s checks and credit cards only.
Q: How much do you require of a deposit?
A: We require a $100.00 retainer along with a signed contract for all DJ contracts and a $50.00 retainer and contract for Officiant services only.
Q: How do your Officiant service work?
A: If you are getting married and would like a non-denominational Officiant/Minister to marry you, Source 1 can provide a licensed Officiant to perform your wedding ceremony or vow renewal. Source 1 has both male and female Officiants and we even have an ordained Rabbi. Each of our Ministers will meet with you and write a custom ceremony celebrating your love for each other.
Q: What is up-lighting and how much do you charge for it?
A: Up-lighting is a very nice way to add color and accent to any venue, from a large hall to a backyard tent. Our up-lighting is all LED, wireless and battery powered for up to 8hrs. The LED means the lights stay cool to the touch so that children don’t burn their fingers if they touch them. Wireless color control allows us to blend multiple colors in order to match many wedding colors. And battery power means no ugly cords or orange extension cords ruining the aesthetics of your room. Prices for up-lighting as an add-on to any DJ package are $20.00 per light with no minimum. We also have an option to rent up-lighting even if you’re not using Source 1 as your DJ. Rental prices start at $30.00 per light, with a $75.00 set-up/pick-up fee and a $200.00 refundable deposit per every four lights rented (i.e. 12 lights would require a $600.00 deposit) Rental is based upon availability and first consideration is always given to Source 1 clients who have booked DJ services.
Q: How far in advance should we book your services?
A: Because we are so highly rated, we do book up faster than many other DJ companies. We recommend booking between 12 and 15 months before your event date. While we can often accept bookings closer to your date, we cannot guarantee will have a DJ available for all dates.
